Author & Motivational Speaker

Marietta Harris, has been a professional freelance writer since 2007. For over 37 years she received numerous awards and certificates as an instructor and lecturer.  She continues to help caregivers understand the challenges they face.

An accomplished musician, vocalist, writer, composer and motivational speaker. Marietta is a native San Franciscan who has traveled the globe. She has lived in Europe and now resides in the Bay Area. She is an outstanding motivational speaker. Ms. Harris wrote her first book after her mother passed from Alzheimer.  She is a member of the national organization "Sisters in Crime."

Her first book, The Other Side of Alzheimer's, A Caregiver's story, is an in depth look at what it takes to be a caregiver for a loved one. The book was so inspiring that The Alzheimer's Association invited her to speak in Capri, Italy. She shared her story with families who find themselves  as caregivers and devastated by this illness. She was well received and given an award for her participation. Excerpts from her speech can be viewed on the picture/video page.  She continues to share her story to families along with book signings and participating in book festivals around the bay area.

Now she has turned her attention to writing murder mysteries. Her first novel in the Evelyn Jenkins series is, The Gospel Choir Murder. This  murder drama that takes place during the Oakland CA Gabriel Missionary Baptist Church Gospel Choir's concert tour.

The second novel in the Evelyn Jenkins Series is Thou Shalt Kill . When Evelyn Jenkins sets up a booth at Oakland’s Baptist convention, seeking new clients for her travel business, she’s not expecting to end up in the middle of another murder investigation. Or to find herself gazing into a detective’s fine brown eyes.  She never does get to hear the dynamic preacher who has become the talk of the town.
